Tiger's eye is a member of the quartz family, a silicon dioxide mineral. Tiger's eye has hands os yellow-brown to golden colours. Thought to be a rare precious stone in the 1800s, tiger's eye entered the market at an extremely high price. By the 1900s, the gem was only considered semi-precious.
